Tucked into Denver’s coveted Cherry Creek neighborhood, Mile High Moderne is a masterful interpretation of the Art Moderne movement—an architectural and design style born from the glamour and optimism of the Jazz Age. The project began when a local builder sought a design firm capable of authentically executing a Deco-inspired vision.

After interviewing numerous studios, their search led them to South Florida, where Oliver Cloutier Interiors was selected for our bespoke design philosophy and highly hands-on approach. By intentionally accepting only a limited number of projects each year, we are able to deliver an exceptional level of detail, craftsmanship, and creative focus—making us the ideal partner for this ambitious undertaking.

Sculptural Spiral Staircase

Entrusted with full creative freedom, our team conceptualized the home’s entire design direction, anchored by a dramatic, sculptural spiral staircase that serves as the residence’s defining feature. Every one of the home’s 7,500 square feet of finishes was thoughtfully curated by our studio. All millwork and cabinetry were fully custom designed, drawn, and detailed in-house, encompassing two kitchens, two bars, three fireplaces, a home office, craft room, spacious mudroom, and a dedicated coffee bar.

Soft Curves and Smooth Stucco,

While often associated with Art Deco, Moderne architecture is distinguished by its restrained elegance and streamlined forms. Inspired by the aerodynamics of early air and sea travel, the style emphasizes soft curves, smooth stucco, honed stone, and rounded architectural elements—creating a timeless yet forward-looking aesthetic.

Upon entry, guests are immediately immersed in the design narrative. Beneath their feet lies a custom mosaic commissioned from an Italian atelier, featuring concentric patterns in ebony, smoke, white dove, and ochre. This striking introduction opens to a luminous white oak and stucco spiral staircase that ascends gracefully through a three-story volume, framed by clerestory windows and crowned with a bronze metal leaf ceiling

Restrained Elegance and Streamlined Forms

During construction, the home was purchased sight unseen by clients who fell in love with the vision first experienced through virtual reality. They entrusted our firm to bring that vision to life—and to tailor it to their lifestyle. The result was nothing short of serendipitous: a home that felt deeply personal from the moment they walked through the door, despite never having met us in person during the early phases of design.

Timeless Design and Thoughtful Craftsmanship

Nine months later, we delivered a fully turnkey, world-class residence. Artwork was carefully curated and installed, accessories thoughtfully layered throughout, and every space meticulously styled. Both kitchens were fully appointed, bars stocked and ready for entertaining, and each bedroom dressed in custom-selected Italian bedding. Delivering the project on time and on budget was a proud achievement—but even more meaningful was the relationship built along the way.
